Our goal in the Children's Ministry is to provide support to parents and caregivers as you work to "raise up [your] children in the way of the Lord" (Proverbs 22:6) We have many children's programs for you to choose from.  All programs reach out and present the Gospel to children so they may choose a personal relationship with Christ.  We teach children God's word and equip them to live out their faith in the family, community, and the world.  We look forward to having your child join us.

Our theme for 2011-2012 is GET REEL.  We want to have “Reel” faith for all children.  This means not just talking about Jesus but following him every day of our life.  “Reel” faith is faith that we can see and hear throughout the week.  Get Reel, Get Jesus!

Nursery

Nursery care is a vital ministry of MVPC that is provided during worship services, Sunday School, and other special events as needed. This ministry enables adults to participate more fully in worship and classes, and it also serves as a vital introduction of young children to the family of God. Our goal is to provide caring, well trained staff who nurtures the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of babies and toddlers. A digital paging system for parents is available for parents. Our worship services can also be heard in the Nursery and Fellowship Area for parents and nursing moms.

Studio 252 Jr.

DATES:  Sunday Mornings

TIMES:  9:00 & 10:30 am

AGES:  1-2 year olds and 3-4 year olds

Our Sunday morning preschool program gives young children an opportunity to take a “first look” at faith.  A companion to our elementary program Studio 252, Studio 252 Jr. uses the First Look curriculum and is designed just for preschool students.  Children in our classes will discover that God made them, that God loves them, and that Jesus wants to be their friend forever.  Teachings are classroom-based and incorporate a combination of hands-on activities, story times, singing, and free play. While both the 9:00 am and the 10:30 am classes teach the same Bible lesson, the learning activities differ making it possible for children to attend both class times each week.

This month we're teaching preschoolers that God can help me do ANYTHING!  Imagine knowing this deep down in your heart. God helped David save his sheep from a lion and a bear. Then, God helped David win battle after battle. God helped Samuel find the new king, and God helped Moses free His people from Pharaoh. God can help me do anything!

BOTTOM LINE: Love God with all your heart.

KEY QUESTION:  How do you love God?

  • Teaching in the Temple (Luke 2:41-50)
  • The Greatest Commandment: Love God (Matthew 22:34-40)
  • The Second Greatest Commandment: Love Others (Matthew 22:34-40, Acts 9:1-30)
  • Jesus Prays (Matthew 6:5-13)

Studio 252

DATES:  Sunday Mornings

TIMES:  10:30 am

AGES:  Kindergargen—5th Grade.

Our Sunday morning elementary program encourages children to be like Jesus. Through the use of both small group and large group settings, children will study Bible stories, learn Bible verses, sing songs of worship, and learn how they can choose to follow God outside of the classroom.  Each month we focus on one virtue, a characteristic of God that we want to implement.  This program is packed with fun and engaging activities for all ages and learning styles.  Studio 252 is offered at the 10:30am worship service.

Spend time in a children’s Sunday school class and you’ll soon  notice that when you ask a kid a question in church, their default answer, if they don’t really know the answer, will be “God?” Or coming in a close second-hand frantically waving in the air-“Jesus!”  And really, most questions can be answered in some way with God or Jesus. That’s because God is the ultimate source of knowledge-and that’s the characteristic of God we’re learning over the next four weeks as we kick off a new school year. It’s in the story of God that we find the character of God, so we’re headed to the Gospel of Luke to learn from His Son, Jesus, as He grew up.

  • The Shepherd Kid (Samuel anoints David) (1 Samuel 16:1-13)
  • Sidekicks (David and Jonathan)(1 Samuel 18:1-4&5-9)
  • Sensei What? (Absalom Rebels)(2 Samuel 15:1-16a, 18:5-7, 15, 31-33)
  • Dance On, Dance Off (David dances before the Lord)(2 Samuel 6:12b-22a)

Production Team & Dance Studio Team

We are currently recruiting kids to join our student leadership teams: the Production Team and Dance Studio Team. Members learn how to serve God by leading at Studio 252, Studio 252 Jr. and Kids LIVE.  They’ll participate in leading praise songs, assisting with AV needs, teaching preschoolers and helping to lead activities.  Members must  have a personal relationship with Jesus, love being around kids, be willing to serve 1-2 times per month, and be able to attend our monthly leadership training meetings.

Open to kids 3rd grade and above.  The Production Crew meets 1 time per month, Dance Studio 2-times per month.

Kids LIVE

KidsLIVE is a fun, high energy Bible adventure. This fall, children became a part of a live Talk Show themed Bible club. On November 16 we finished our fall series on the book of Genesis where we helped the kids discover the beginning of everything in the world, including God’s promise, to send Jesus. Each week we introduced the children to a new Bible story from the book of Genesis and engaged them in lively discussions, crazy games, fun songs, crafts and snacks.  Our small group time gave children an opportunity to discuss the nightly topic with activities and questions.

Open to all children 3-years to 5th grade. Registration is required.

For 10 weeks we will take a look at the book of Matthew.  Make plans to have your children join the fun.  KidsLIVE continues thru March 28th.
