Vacation Bible School: Staff and kids get ready for the climb

When: July 13-17 and July 20-24

Ages: 3 years through 5th grade

Marine View’s 2015 Vacation Bible School (VBS) promises to be a peak experience with the theme “Everest: Conquering Challenges with God’s Mighty Power.”  The popular one-week VBS will be offered twice to accommodate the 140 children expected to participate.

Children’s Ministry Director Amanda Forbes said this year’s theme is designed to equip children in responding to life’s challenged.

Even at a young age, kids face challenges every day. They are challenged to make right decisions, to seek forgiveness, to be kind to people who may not be kind back. In addition, they may have seen their families face illness and financial crises. Our message is that God has the power to overcome any challenge they come across.

The week will be filled with fun skits, activities, learning, worship time, and lots of enthusiasm. “Many of the children take their music CDs home on the first day and play them over and over again until they know the songs well,” Amanda says. “The songs are full of meaning and retell the message of camp.”

In the mist of a record hot summer, Marine View’s VBS will bring in the snow. “Snow in summer—what could be more fun?” Amanda says. “Kids are going to be really excited to participate in some of our cool activities, from ice games to snow making.”

Marnie View’s VBS is so popular that the first week is already full. The five-day event costs $20 for the first child; $15 for each additional child. Fees cover the costs of supplies, a t-shirt, and the music CD.
