With the recent crisis in Southeast Texas, the Marine View Session invites you to join in on the relief effort. The Session has discussed three ways we would like to ask you to get involved:
Pray for the people and communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Pray for the relief effort, first-responders, and for those who are now without homes. Pray for ECO churches (located above - click link for details on each congregation) in the greater Houston area as they reach out to love and serve their communities. ECO (Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians) is the denominational network to which Marine View is connected.
Give financial support through Marine View's Harvey Relief Fund or through World Renew (ECO's disaster relief partner). Marine View is currently working to identify local ECO churches in the greater Houston directly effected by the hurricane. Our plan is to offer financial support to an ECO congregation and to partner with them over the course of the relief and rebuilding effort.
As with Hurricane Katrina, the relief effort in Southeast Texas will be ongoing for potentially years to come. We invite you to consider traveling to the region to serve those in need. We will keep you informed about this opportunity as the situation unfolds and as specific needs arise.
It is important that as we reach out during this crisis, that we remember and pray for the other significant issues and challenges facing our nation. From the polarized political landscape, to the issues of racism and violence seen in Charlottesville, and protests and rallies around the country, it is clear that sharing the message of God's love through our words and actions is needed. Consider how God is calling you to love and serve others. Look at your sphere of influence and ask: How can I share the love and grace of Jesus Christ with those around me? How can I work for the good of my community, my neighbors, for those in need? As followers of Jesus, we have the opportunity reach out with God's love to a broken and hurting world.
Thank you for considering how you can reach wider with God's love!
