Marine View Christian Preschool, a ministry of Marine View Presbyterian Church provides a warm and loving Christian environment where children can learn, grow, and play. Our goal is to develop the self esteem of all students by teaching that God created them unique and special and that He loves them just as they are. We prepare our students for kindergarten and everyday life in the following areas:
- Socially - by encouraging independence, sharing, listening, self-expression, following directions and consideration for others.
- Physically - by exercising balance, eye-hand coordination and gross and fine motor skills.
- Scholastically - by teaching how to distinquish sizes, shapes and colors; concepts such as today/tomorrow/yesterday, weight/height, left/right, alike/different; the knowledge of letters and numbers.
- Emotionally - by fostering virtues such as candor, respect, integrity and honor.
3-4 year old classes: Limited to 12 students
4-5 year old classes: Limited to 14 students
Class sizes are limited so that our teachers have more quality time to spend with the children. Classroom aides assist the teachers.
Our curriculum encourages children to learn through observation, imitation, experimentation, practice and interaction with other children and adults. In each classroom, we have the following learning areas:
- Home Corner - for imitating and dreaming with a kitchen, dolls and dress-up clothes.
- Creative Art Table - for developing the fine motor skills used in writing.
- Activity Table - containing manipulative toys such as Lego's, puzzles, nesting/stacking, matching/sorting games and magnetic boards with numbers and shapes.
- Toy Cupboard - for encouraging sharing and communicating with peers along with other social skills.
- Quiet Corner - for looking at books and using their imagination.
- Marine View Christian Preschool also has a large room that features a rotation of play centers such as: swings, tricycles, balance beam, slide, paint easel, water area, sand or rice tub, spin art, play dough, marble painting, parachute games, obstacle courses and other group projects. Also, for the nice days, we have an outdoor play area.
