Meet the Youth Leaders
Adult Leaders:
Hannah Snelling, Director of Youth Ministry

- Works With: Middle School and High School, if there are youth present, I am there!
- Youth Leader Status: Three years here at MVPC, 6 years of professional youth ministry experience before that.
- What is your favorite part of being a youth leader: All of it! The most rewarding part is definitely seeing teens' lives changed by the love of Jesus Christ. I also love the moments when everyone is hanging out and laughing so hard it hurts – this happens surprisingly often!
- Favorite Verse: "I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you-the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Psalm 121

John Dilworth

- Work With: Middle School Sunday School
- Youth Leader Status: This is my 4th year.
- What made you want to be a youth leader: Either the churches I've attended have been desperate, or the Lord has provided me with the opportunity and desire to work with children and youth. I've worked with every grade and age group from pre-school through Sr. High (over a 15 or 16 year period). Middle School was the only age that I had never worked with. In fact, it was the age I feared the most. When the previous youth leader left, Pastor Neil asked me if I would be willing to teach middle school Sunday School. At first I said no, but the Lord was tugging at me. After some prayerful discussions with Neil and my wife I agreed to "fill in temporarily".
- Favorite Verses: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38- 39 and "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." John 3: 16-18

- Youth leader Status: Holy cow, has it really been 18 years?!!!!
- What made you want to be a youth leader: I was just going to volunteer for a couple of years when we first joined the church and then quit. But 18 years later, I'm still doing it. I love being around our young people. I am so blessed with them. It is a privilege to be allowed in their world and be accepted. I love their honesty, brutal as it can be at times. They rejuvenate me and remind me of what it was like to be so young and how confusing those years can be. I am humbled by their youthful wisdom and I am grateful for their affection. You might say that I am quite selfish because I think I get more out of being their youth leader than they do out of me. Oh, and the laughter we have shared and yes, tears. Plus, I'm just a big kid myself, only I can pay for my own insurance. God is definitely good.
- Favorite verse: I have a few but the one that comes to mind right now is Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God". It's been my mantra for a couple of years now. I get busy trying to live life that I forget who gave me that life to begin with. I need a reminder to slow down and let God be my God and just be still and listen to Him. Hey, I think it might make a good tattoo.
- At Starbucks I order: decaf tall nonfat mocha no whip or tall nonfat hot chocolate no whip.
- Favorite Movie: I have many depending on my mood, but right now it's Quantum of Solace. Yeah, I'm a Bond Girl.

"Joyful, Joyful" from the Sister Act 2 soundtrack. "Where My Party People At" by Nelly. "What Goes Around Comes Around" by Justin Timberlake. "In the Mood" by Bette Midler. "Have a Nice Day" by Bon Jovi. "Benny And the Jets" by Elton John. "Let The Praise Begin" by Fred Hammond. "Birdland" by The Manhattan Transfer. I also have Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Michael Jackson, Bryan Duncan, Natalie Cole, Pat Benatar, Prince, John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Robert Palmer plus a couple of big band swing tunes.
- Favorite MVPC trip: I have been on so many trips with our youth that it's hard to pick one. Each trip has been amazingly blessed and God always had incredible surprises in them. I have many more trips to make so I'll keep it open.
